Salah Issues Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
What Happened
He was omitted from a European match after criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
Jones also noted that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I understand there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a good place,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and securing victories.”
