Palestinian-American Youth Released Following Nine Months in Israeli Imprisonment

An Palestinian-American teenager after completing nine months in Israeli detention without being charged was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 when he was arrested in February within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing toward Israeli settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care upon gaining freedom, relatives told the media.

According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

In a statement, family spokesperson conveyed their "tremendous relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"At this moment, we are focused on providing Mohammed with urgent medical care he requires after experiencing Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances over several months."

The state department stated they would maintain to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

{"US government authorities has no higher priority than the safety and security of US citizens"," the department emphasized.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, demanding more be done to release him.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed since February, and only heard regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

He stayed without charge at Ofer detention facility throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to mature inmates, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences and homicide.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Numerous remain uncharged while advocacy organizations, and international organizations, document cases involving abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities succumbed to assault by Israeli settlers during a confrontation during summer.

Initially, the Israeli military said authorities were looking into accounts of a Palestinian had died.

The two cousins were employed together within the family's frozen treats establishment based in Florida.

No indictments occurred with Sayfollah's killing.

"We anticipate US authorities to ensure our family's safety," the uncle stated.
