British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
âAnthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,â the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.â
His release from the hospital follows the sports world offered condolences for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
